The pension simplification laws created a complete new set of responsibilities for any pension scheme administrator.   Virtually all insurance companies, with the notable exceptions of Skandia Life and Standard Life, washed their hands of this requirement, placing it firmly into the lap of the trustees.  Pension scheme administration is a very important issue with mandatory fines being imposed if certain procedures and form filling is not adopted.
